Constance Belle Mare Plage, Mauritius

Our Opinion
The 2027 MCB Ladies Classic will be played at Links and Legend from 25 April to 4 May 2027.

Constance Belle Mare Plage sits on a magnificent two-kilometre sweep of white sand on the east coast of Mauritius. Long favoured by families, gourmets and golfers alike, it remains one of the island's most versatile and complete resorts.

All 259 rooms and suites face the sea or the beach, arranged in low-rise blocks of three floors or fewer amid lush tropical gardens and four swimming pools. The style is light and contemporary, and the Junior and Deluxe Suites are especially generous on space. Connecting options are extensive too, spanning Prestige Rooms, Junior Suites and combinations such as a Prestige Room with a Deluxe Suite, which makes the resort a particularly good fit for families. In a large, established property of this kind, individual room styles and layouts can differ a little, but standards are consistently high and well looked after.

The 2 and 3 Bedroom Pool Villas, quietly positioned at the northern edge of the resort, are a particular favourite of ours. They bring together spacious living areas, private pools, their own Villa Master service and full use of everything the resort offers. For families or groups of friends, golfers above all, they represent excellent value. Larger groups can also consider the five-bedroom Presidential Villa.

Golfers are exceptionally well served here: the set-up is arguably the finest in the Indian Ocean. Two outstanding championship courses, Legend and Links, are open to guests, each with its own excellent clubhouse and a standard of service that sets the bar. Clubs are stored, cleaned and taken straight to your buggy, and green fees are included for guests staying at the resort.

Away from the fairways, the activity list is impressive: tennis, volleyball, table tennis and mountain biking, plus a broad choice of water sports, some complimentary and some at a charge, from water-skiing and glass-bottom boat trips to scuba diving. There are optional extras such as horse riding, guided cycle tours and quad biking. The state-of-the-art fitness centre, fitted with Technogym and Life Fitness equipment, runs a varied programme of free group classes, while the Constance Spa offers a sauna, a steam room and a full menu of massages and treatments in ten treatment rooms. Younger guests are well looked after at the Constance Kids Club for ages 4 to 11, with engaging daily programmes in a safe, friendly setting.

Food is a genuine strength. Across the resort's seven restaurants the standard is consistently high, from the spacious but cleverly laid-out La Citronelle to the atmospheric Blue Penny Cellar, where fine dining meets one of the region's most impressive wine collections. Deer Hunter, at the Legend clubhouse, deserves a special mention: it is a destination in its own right and worth a visit even if you never pick up a club.

For a resort of this size, Belle Mare Plage is surprisingly easy to get around, with most of the restaurants and pools conveniently central, and the service is generally both efficient and warm. The All Inclusive package is especially good value, covering dining across every restaurant on a credit basis and a generous drinks list in all outlets.

All in all, Constance Belle Mare Plage fully earns its place on our Highly Recommended list. It is a confident choice for anyone seeking an established, high-quality resort with exceptional golf, excellent dining, plenty of activities and accommodation to suit couples, families and groups alike.
