Dinarobin occupies one of the finest positions on Mauritius, set at the base of Le Morne Brabant, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with generous stretches of sandy beach running alongside. The site has welcomed guests since the earliest era of Mauritian tourism, and Beachcomber's elegant five-star property has come a long way from the rustic beach huts of the 1950s. Today it is a villa and suite-only retreat, and the setting has lost none of its magic.

The suites are arranged in crescents, each gathered around its own pool, with the designated Zen suites reserved for adults only. Our favourite is the vast first-floor Senior Suite Beachfront, where sheer space feels like its own kind of luxury, and the two-bedroom options suit families well. The villas are immense, with private pools and direct beach access, and they can take larger family groups, but they are in strong demand and need booking well ahead.

Dining is one of Dinarobin's real strengths, and anyone who loves variety will be spoilt. Restaurants and facilities are shared with sister resort Paradis, giving eight options in total. L'Harmonie, the main restaurant, serves a varied buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, while Dina's focuses on local cuisine in the evenings. Umami, the excellent Japanese restaurant, and La Ravanne, a romantic beachside spot that is essential for dinner, both raise the experience a notch or two. Lazy lunches at the beachfront Blue Marlin or La Plage are the stuff of lasting holiday memories. There are plenty of bars too, with our pick being the old-school Le Mahogany for impeccably served evening cocktails.

Facilities are extensive: a fitness centre, tennis, a wide range of mostly complimentary water sports, a lovely spa and a complimentary kids club. Between the resort and Le Morne, an 18-hole golf course winds through tropical gardens, with many holes running alongside the turquoise lagoon and offering dramatic views, plus perhaps the most picturesque driving range you will find anywhere. Beachcomber's tie-up with Mont Choisy Le Golf also opens up a fine championship course in the north of the island, and keen golfers will find the day trip well worthwhile.

Dinarobin Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa sits at the southern tip of Mauritius, at the foot of Le Morne Brabant — the dramatic UNESCO-listed mountain peninsula that frames this stretch of coastline. The resort occupies a prime position along an extended white-sand beach, surrounded by lush tropical grounds.

Velana International Airport is approximately 45 minutes by road, and transfers are straightforward.

All accommodation at Dinarobin is in the form of suites and villas, with no standard rooms. Suites are set in crescent-shaped clusters, each grouped around its own pool, with one crescent designated for adults only. Two-bedroom options are available for families, while the villas offer private pools and direct beach access — ideal for those wanting a higher degree of seclusion.

Dining at Dinarobin draws on a shared arrangement with the adjacent Paradis Beachcomber, giving guests access to eight restaurants and bars between the two properties. These range from an all-day buffet restaurant and a Mauritian dining outlet to Japanese cuisine, a beachside grill, and a romantic beach restaurant. Complimentary water sports, a spa, tennis, a fitness centre, and a complimentary kids' club complete the resort's facilities. An 18-hole golf course meanders through the tropical gardens between the resort and the mountain, with holes running alongside the lagoon.
