Stretching along two kilometres of pristine white sand on Mauritius' east coast, Constance Belle Mare Plage is one of the island's most accomplished all-round resorts — just as popular with families and food enthusiasts as it is with serious golfers.

The 259 rooms and suites all face the sea, set in low-rise blocks surrounded by tropical gardens and dotted around four swimming pools. The 2 and 3 Bedroom Pool Villas on the northern edge are a particular favourite of ours — spacious, private, with dedicated Villa Master service and full resort privileges. Excellent value for families or groups, particularly if golf is on the agenda. For larger parties, the five-bedroom Presidential Villa is also available.

For golfers, this is arguably the finest setup in the Indian Ocean. Two championship courses — Legend and Links — each with superb clubhouses and service that sets the benchmark. Clubs are stored, cleaned and delivered straight to your buggy. Green fees are included for resort guests.

Beyond the fairways, there's tennis, cycling, volleyball, watersports including waterskiing and scuba diving, plus optional horse riding and quad biking. The fitness centre runs complimentary group classes, the Constance Spa offers ten treatment rooms, and younger guests are looked after at the Constance Kids Club (ages 4–11) with daily programmes in a safe environment.

Dining is a genuine highlight. Seven restaurants deliver consistently high standards, from the well-executed buffet at La Citronelle to the exceptional Blue Penny Cellar, which pairs fine dining with one of the region's most impressive wine collections. Deer Hunter at the Legend clubhouse is a destination in its own right — worth visiting even if you don't play golf.

Despite its scale, the resort feels pleasantly walkable, service is warm and efficient, and the All Inclusive package offers excellent value with dining across all restaurants on a credit basis and a generous drinks list.
